Full-sized
minivans have a solid place in American culture. As popular as
full-sized SUVs have become, they will never replace the minivan as the
quintessential family hauler in the hearts and minds of many drivers
across Eastern Pennsylvania, including Philadelphia, Warminster, and
Doylestown. Of course, when people think of minivans, the vehicle that
comes to mind is the Dodge Grand Caravan.
The Dodge Grand Caravan is the vehicle that established the minivan as a class of its own, and it still holds the distinction today of being the epitome of everything a vehicle should be. Now that the latest models are rolling out, let's review the new 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan and discover where to go to drive one for yourself.
2019 Dodge Grand Caravan
The latest version of the Grand Caravan hits showrooms with just a minor upgrade this year, with rearview camera and automatically dimming rearview mirror not standard equipment. Otherwise, it carries over from the outstanding entry that 2018 offered in showrooms.
As with last year's model, all levels of Grand Caravan are powered by a V6 3.6L engine that puts out 283 horsepower with 260 lb-ft of torque. They're driven by a 6-speed automatic and come in a choice of three different trim levels - SE, Plus, and SXT.
Technology and Options
The
base trim level features for the latest Grand Caravan are actually
better than many other minivans on the market. Features include tri-zone
climate control, with air conditioning in the rear. A conversation
mirror and an auto-dim rearview mirror greatly enhance your visibility
to the back seat and behind your vehicle. The sound system is driven by a
6.5-inch touchscreen Uconnect® interface with six speakers, CD player,
and auxiliary port, and you can upgrade it by adding the Uconnect® Hands-Free Group, which upgrades the tech to include satellite radio, Bluetooth®, and USB port.
Additional technology is available at the higher levels, and includes elements like remote start, power sliding rear doors and liftgate, and power-adjustable driver seat for convenience and comfort, as well as automatic headlights and fog lights for even better vision.
At every level, there are extra add-on technology options including features like an enhanced touchscreen with GPS navigation and even digital music file storage. Safety and convenience technology also kicks up with rear parking sensors, household-style power outlet, and trip computer. Finally, it wouldn't be a minivan without the option for a back-seat entertainment system with roof-mount screen, DVD player, extra charging USB port, and wireless headphones.
Stow 'n Go® Seating
One of the most famous Grand Caravan features is the unique Stow 'n Go® seating. This feature lets you fold the seats quickly and easily into the floor, and it allows you to utilize under-seat spaces when the seats are up. Overall, you'll get 33 cubic feet of room behind the third row of seats. When you fold all the seats down, that increases to a maximum of 143.8 cubic feet.
