Now that RAM and Jeep have their own diesel options, with the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel and the 1500 diesel pickup respectively, people are turning their sights on Chrysler. The automaker is considering a diesel option for their own lineup but the question is: which new Chrysler model will it be? Fred Beans Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM has the details on the potential move and we hope you like what we've found.
Those in charge of such decisions have made it known that a luxury sedan seems most appealing and a diesel option would complement such a model. According to Saad Chehab, head of the Chrysler brand, the Chrysler 300 four-door sedan is the vehicle of choice but a final decision is still some ways off in the future.
European buyers can buy a Chrysler 300 with a diesel V-6 engine supplied by VM Motori right now. Unfortunately, bringing the model to the United States is a bit of a hurdle; emissions standards are much stricter over here in the west, so additional development work will have to be put in. However, once achieved, it will certainly be worth the effort.
However, should the 300 see some success in the diesel trim, some speculate the Chrysler 200 could also see a diesel option. We'll just have to wait and see.
