A good number of us here at Fred Beans Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram that were always car lovers are guilty of occasionally doodling car designs in the borders of our notes in our school days, and it seems that tradition hasn't died; our favorite automaker is holding the second competition for Michigan high schoolers to show off their designing talent in the Autorama High School Design Competition 2014.

The competition is only open to high school students at "a Michigan public school,"1 as Chrysler Group LLC puts it, and it's specifically for young designers to put in their efforts to create a vehicle that meets the needs of young drivers while remaining earth-friendly. Of course, any good artist needs some inspiration, so the automaker has said it's A-Okay to pull ideas from the current Chrysler Group brands: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Truck, FIAT, and SRT.

All entries will be hand-drawn on a single piece of white paper no smaller than 8x10" and no larger than 11x17" with pencil, markers, and/or paint. This minimalistic and low-tech approach will truly push the talents of the student who enter, as technological restrictions often do. Get those creative juices flowing, guys!

Entries are due by January 10th, 2014 and a winner will be chosen on the 31st of the same month. There are different first- and second-place prizes for each grade level, from freshman to senior, so a good number of students will have a chance to win. However, iPads are given out across the board, so that's certainly something cool to strive for. Other prizes include passes to Detroit Autorama, a three-week design course at CCS, and even a $2,500 scholarship to CCS.

We can’t wait to see the winning design for ourselves. If you'd like to take a look at some current new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram designs (and vehicles!) for yourself, come give us a visit at our Doylestown, PA dealership, serving the greater Trenton area, today.
