Recently, Jeep hinted at possibly producing a hybrid model of its iconic Wrangler.
For generations, the Wrangler has won the hearts of off-roading enthusiasts, and the automaker hopes to gain a new fan base with the inclusion of a hybrid option.
Fans have been anxiously awaiting a new addition to the Wrangler lineup and welcomed the announcement of a possibly new hybrid option when hinted at by Michael Manley (head of Jeep brand) during this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
While it was not confirmed, Manley stated that upcoming Jeeps might be “a form of electric,” indicating a possible hybrid model in the future.
Manley also stated that the hybrid version of the Wrangler could also have improved performance and better distribution of torque to all four wheels.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is slated for release later this year and is set to come with a redesign and a variety of feature upgrades. A new four-cylinder engine, an agile eight-speed automatic gearbox, and an aluminum body frame are just a few of the expected changes for the new year.
